Material and Spiritual Values are processed by our conscious and subconscious minds. Our subconscious mind cannot adequately monitor our efforts nor report progress by way of feelings, unless it knows what we truly value in life, i.e., from a spiritual or virtuous perspective. Subconscious mind cannot work in a vacuum. Unless it knows what value importance we place on our actions, it cannot uphold the significance of life.
Life-values are perhaps best described as a particular value that you trust a certain task will bring to your life. Truth, honesty, integrity, graciousness, diligence, or perseverance are virtues, more so than examples of life-values. Nonetheless, virtues attach to a material value most often, e.g., I will study diligently. Knowledge, for this example, is a material gain, while diligence expresses one’s willingness to ensure that it is pertinent, useful, and supportive of life. Accordingly, the term life-values, best describes material and spiritual Values that will add valued meaning or spiritual quality to your life experience, over and above any material gain.
I speak of spiritually based ‘values,’ or life-values, or virtues perhaps. Integrity, courtesy, patience and diligence are good examples. Life-values are perhaps best described as those that we trust a specific task will bring to our (spiritual) life. In other words, those which add valued meaning or spiritual quality to our life experience, over and above any material gain. Life-values differ from material acquisitions like holidays, perfume, and jet skis, consequently.
Caution Is Necessary
We can choose what we will value, materially, intellectually, emotionally and spiritually, Subconscious mind will accept as ‘value’ exactly what we nominate to be of value. Material and spiritual values are its reference base,
However, unless we deliberately choose to implant our chosen preferences in our subconscious mind, likely it will garner different values without our knowing. It cannot work in a vacuum and more than an empty stomach can digest food. Unless we take mental charge of what we value, subconscious mind will assimilate our values from our actions. We program our subconscious mind by example, whether we know it or not.
We can delude ourselves of course, such if our actions make a lie of our claimed values then untruthfulness will become an assumed value. That emphasises the spiritual aspect and highlights another danger.
Past-values remain in our subconscious mind until substituted. So, whether our material and spiritual Values values are intentioned, or acculturated without our knowing, they will drive our subconscious mind and our emotions. Subconscious mind matches our closest value to any present moment experience, much as intuit information is formed and delivered.
Are you beginning to see how free will is far more dynamic than a simple yes/no switch? It’s the objective driving force of our cognitive, emotional and spiritual being; our full consciousness.
It is from life-sustaining values that a personal code of ethics may develop. Such reference base will contribute to our sustenance and ever growing achievements in any chosen field of endeavour. Once selected and impressed on the subconscious mind, life-values fuel our emotional database in satisfaction of healthy and rewarding reports that we call feelings.
